I framed up a few prints from James Luckett’s Postcard Collective series. For those who are unaware of James’ work, he has created the artwork for the last three Zelienople albums (all on Type). The Postcard collective is an intriguing project, especially in an age when the majority of personal correspondence is done digitally. It’s a special day when I reach into the mailbox and grab a postcard from James. Sometimes they’re printed commercially but the ones I really love (and the ones framed here) are actual Silver Gelatin prints on single-weight matte paper that he printed in his personal darkroom. There’s always a really cryptic and poetic message written on the back (sometimes addressing someone other than myself.). Anyway, here’s a short interview with James concerning the Postcard Collective.
